Humpback whale spotted at Half Moon Bay

Hundreds gathered to see whale feed at Pillar Point Harbor in early September.

A young humpback whale was spotted in Half Moon Bay’s Pillar Point Harbor in early September. The whale – who was about 30 feet long – accidentally found its way into the small harbor and was eating krill over the course of a couple of days. Many people from around the Bay Area came to Half Moon Bay on Sept. 7 to try to spot the whale in person.
